I would like to send my best wishes to the brave crew of the HMS Yarmouth and all those who served our country in the South Atlantic in 1982.

For some reason it didn't allow me to put in a link to his FB page in this message. But if you search FB for Roy P Mowbray you should find it.

(306) This was posted on Facebook by a Roy Mowbray. He found a South Atlantic medal belonging to WEM (R) 1 J. Gibson, HMS Yarmouth and want s to find the owner. If you know who this is, can you contact him directly on his FB page. There are more pictures of the medal there as well.

This message is for all navy boys and girls, old as new.

Do you remember when you were in Standing Naval Force Atlantic or Standing Naval Force Mediterranean, do you remember the comradeship and would you like to experience a bit of it again.

Then you have the chance now, on facebook there is a group just for all navy persons who sailed with one of these groups until they transferred to the new name Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 and 2 in 2005.

We are many who want to hear your stories and see the pictures you have from that period, so come and join your old shipmates and meet new friends with the same interest as you.

I've just read your page on Yarmouth's involvement in the Falklands War. It's only taken me 35 years and comes about as a result of research to help in my memoirs as contribution to a book being written by HMS Argonaut Ships company. I have a lasting impression of Yarmouth, forged on my first visit to the upper deck on the morning of 21 May. We were doing 'max chat' through a gap in the land somewhere in Falkland Sound and I remember seeing Yarmouth on our starboard side, also going like the veritable clappers but heading straight towards us, she was healing slightly as she began a turn to starboard, spray spewing forth over her bows from the slight chop, enhanced by her speed, bomb and cannon fire splashes all around and smoke belching from her 4.5 barrels as she let loose a salvo at something I know not what.
All in all, very impressive.
